Bob Dylan, Van Dyke Parks, & Ry Cooder Cover Woody Guthrie’s “Do Re Mi” [Video]

The History Channel aired a documentary the other night called “The People Speak,” a dramatic and musical performance of Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States, featuring actors Josh Brolin, Matt Damon, Morgan Freeman, Viggo Mortensen, and Don Cheadle, as well as musical performances by Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, Bruce Springsteen, Eddie Vedder, and the Black Crowes’ Robinson brothers.

While Eddie Vedder went with a cover of Dylan’s “Masters of War” and The Boss covered Woody Guthrie’s anthem “This Land is Your Land,” Dylan switched things up a bit with a gorgeous version of his hero Woody Guthrie’s “Do Re Mi,” accompanied by living legends Ry Cooder on electric guitar and Van Dyke Parks on piano.

Video of the performance finally hit YouTube earlier today and (though the audio isn’t lined up perfectly) I suggest you give it a listen here or embedded below.
