The Cure’s Robert Smith has been a busy man of late: He quickly followed up news about his cover of “Very Good Advice” for Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland soundtrack with a tease about 4 upcoming collaborations, including a John Martyn cover song for a yet-to-be-announced tribute album, as well as 3 mysterious “other collaborations.” Well, one of those projects is still a mystery (to me anyhow), but it looks like we’ve pinned down the other two…
The first was thought to be a new duet with Montreal-based singer Anik Jean, but is in fact a pseudo-cover of “Believe,” an Earl Slick song featuring Smith to which Jean added her vocals. Stream the new Smith/Jean “duet” here or download it here (via Chain Of Flowers).
The next collaboration is a bit more interesting perhaps. According to the latest blog entry by English instrumental rock band 65daysofstatic (also via Chain Of Flowers), Smith sings on “Come To Me,” a track from their forthcoming 4th LP, We Were Exploding Anyway, which is due out this spring.
Two down, one to go. We’ll let you know as soon as that last collab is unearthed.
