In just 10 days, Dave Sitek will drop his debut solo record as Maximum Balloon, but until then, the TV on the Radio member and Yeah Yeah Yeahs producer is previewing 3 tunes from the self-titled LP on MySpace. Alongside Theophilus London-featuring cut “Groove Me” and “Tiger” (with Aku) is the catchy, disco-ready jam “Communion,” in which Karen O requests, “Gimme that beat / Show your love,” via Studio 54-destined time machine.
“Communion” is the best song off Maximum Balloon I’ve heard so far, and added proof that the Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman’s brilliant songwriting chops are underrated, at times, in favor of citing her enthralling stage persona. Give it a spin with the other two jams here or below.
