Damien Rice, Surfer Blood, More Offer Tracks for Gulf Benefit Comp, Gasoline Rainbows

On November 30, iTunes will release Gasoline Rainbows, a 14-track compilation to benefit Global Green USA’s effort to restore the Gulf Coast and prevent future environmental catastrophes following this year’s BP oil spill. Artists offering up previously released tracks for the project — curated by actors Sophia Bush and Austin Nichols — include the National, West Palm Beach’s own Surfer Blood, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, the Black Keys, LCD Soundsystem, Vampire Weekend, Phoenix, Silversun Pickups, and more.

Most notably, perhaps, is that Damien Rice contributed a brand new song, “The Connoisseur of Great Excuse,” to the compilation. It’s been nearly a half-decade since the Irish singer-songwriter’s last studio album, 9, was released, though he has unveiled two promising new tracks this year so far: “What If I’m Wrong?” from a documentary on Tibet and “Under the Tongue” from the soundtrack to a PBS special on the music of Ireland. Tracklist for Gasoline Rainbows is below.
