Watch Frightened Rabbit & The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn Cover Elton John

On December 8, Frightened Rabbit will release their latest single, “The Loneliness & the Scream,” backed by two B-sides: “Things” (Alternate Version) and “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart,” Elton John and Bernie Taupin’s 1976 hit that was originally recorded as a duet between John and Kiki Dee. “When I was making a list of the ideal Kikis, Craig Finn was at the top,” FR’s Scott Hutchison told Ragged Words (via Pitchfork). “I couldn’t believe it when he agreed to do the part. I imagined it sounding like two drunk guys doing the whole ‘I love you, man’ speeches towards the end of a drunken night.”

Well, we don’t need to wait until December for a sneak peek: Finn made a surprise appearance during the encore of FR’s gig at NYC’s Terminal 5 on Saturday night for a rowdy live take on the cover, and we’ve got some video to prove it.
