Watch: LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy on Sound Opinions

Earlier this month, producer/LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy sat down with Greg Kot and Jim DeRogatis for an interview on their radio show, “Sound Opinions”. Among other intriguing stories in the candid hour-long conversation, Murphy recounts his early days in an indie rock band (Six Finger Satellite), interacting with the likes of Steve Albini and former PiL drummer/eBayer Martin Atkins. My favorite part, though, is his famous (and completely surreal) story about being recruited to audition as a writer for Seinfeld. Thinking the gig would be for Garry Shandling’s show, a then 22-year-old Murphy balked at the opportunity to work on one of the most successful sitcoms in history. Check out this excellent interview — a must-watch for LCD fans — above.
