Lost Highway to Release Ryan Adams’ Love Is Hell, Whiskeytown’s Pneumonia on Vinyl

Given Ryan Adams’ affinity for releasing music on vinyl, you might think that all the popular albums from his discography are readily available in the superior analog format, but there are actually a few that are rather hard (or impossible) to come by. Enter Lost Highway’s 10th Anniversary clear vinyl celebration, in which Adams’ former label will release a slew of LPs “that helped define [their] little label” in coming months, including Adams’ 2004 LP Love Is Hell, which was released as a double-10-inch (though rare copies only occasionally pop up on eBay), and Whiskeytown’s 2001 swan song, Pneumonia, previously unavailable on vinyl.

Additionally, Lost Highway will drop Rock N Roll, Johnny Cash’s American VI: Ain’t No Grave, a Hank Williams tribute record featuring Adams’ take on “Lovesick Blues,” and many more albums in the limited series. The label warns that “all releases and release dates are subject to change,” so I’ll hold off reprinting tentative dates here just yet, but either way, this is great news for those looking to hear jams like “Ballad of Carol Lynn” and “Jacksonville Skyline” the way they’re meant to be heard.
