Hear Tom Waits Voice Bird in ‘The Monster of Nix’

As previously reported, the great Tom Waits’ latest acting role is as the voice of Virgil, “a terrifying giant pitch-black swallow” in Dutch artist/director Rosto’s animated short The Monster of Nix. We got a first glimpse into co-star Terry Gilliam’s voice acting chops in the musical flick via a teaser video when news broke of the project, but now a preview of Waits’ turn in all its foreboding, gravelly-voiced glory can be seen in the short clip above (via /Film/Pop Candy). “Ah, to hatch my own plot… where I’m no bird, but I’m a God.”  Hope those wings aren’t made of wax, Virgil.
