Last month we heard him join forces with Jack White, and now comes a second Third Man Records-related collaboration for Beck Hansen: “Gold Dust Woman,” Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 Rumours cut (which is, at least tangentially, about cocaine), covered by solo artist/model Karen Elson for the new Just Tell Me That You Want Me tribute and produced by Beck. All told, it’s an impressive take worthy of repeated listens, complete with Elson pulling off one of the more Stevie Nicksian vocal tracks so far. The slide and electric guitar flourishes in the arrangement, though, are what really bring this one home.
