Last month’s teaser single bodes very well for Beth Orton’s first record in 6 years, but just in case we need more convincing, here’s a glimpse at three new Sugaring Season tunes pared down and unplugged. Performing a Tiny Desk Concert for NPR, Orton broke out album tracks “Dawn Chorus,” “Candles,” and “Poison Tree,” along with 1999’s “Sweetest Decline,” this week. Given her past studio prowess, the fact that this material stuns even in the less familiar solo-acoustic format means we’re in for a real treat once more fleshed out recordings surface. If you haven’t heard “Something More Beautiful” yet, I’d head thataway. Otherwise, prepare further for our most anticipated October release above.
