Director R. Alverson’s new Sharon Van Etten video is cryptic and even mildly unsettling (what with SVE sitting and floating in colonial garb among naked bodies on the “you got to lose” refrain), but anyone who’s seen his feature films — New Jerusalem or this year’s The Comedy — should recognize the vibe. More importantly, the clip and standout cut off Van Etten’s Tramp LP both stick with you long after the 4 minutes pass. A fine excuse to revisit one of this year’s best records, watch the official visuals filmed in the woods of Bloomington, Indiana above.
