The Strokes: All the Time

The Strokes All the TimeHere’s our second taste of the Strokes’ new album, Comedown Machine, in which the band rein in recent unexpected turns by heading back to the reliable old-school palette (duel guitars, Julian’s “This sound needs to have its tie loosened” vocals, and deceptively simple hooks) beloved on earlier records. As a fan of hearing these guys explore a fresh direction and the classic Strokes sound, this cut and the ’80s-inspired “One Way Trigger,” considered as a pair, bode well for the LP leaning toward either urge. Perhaps that duel approach is what they want to convey ahead of March 26th, as a few minutes ago the band condensed the tracks to a single preview player. Spin both sides above.
