Ryan Adams: When Pigs Fly

Ryan Adams When Pigs Fly

This week, songwriter/children’s book author Sandra Boynton unveiled a new set of illustrated original country songs called Frog Trouble. Rather than sing these tender, and at times humorous, tunes herself, Boynton recruited an impressive list of well-known voices to interpret the work. Alison Krauss, Dwight Yoakam, Mark Lanegan, Kacey Musgraves, and Ben Folds are among the names to contribute a cut. But this one, recorded by Ryan Adams at his Pax-Am Studio in Hollywood, becomes the tone of the project quite well. It’s hard to explain that tone (playful yet heartfelt comes to mind), but give this track a spin and note the album cover’s funny caption (“For Ages One To Older Than Dirt”) for it all to make sense. “When Pigs Fly” is above.
