Sweden’s Sandra Sumie Nagano is the sister of a musician many will be familiar with, Little Dragon’s Yukimi Nagano, but sharing that genetic talent aside, the former’s new solo project holds little in common with the latter’s electro-pop approach. “It was not a style or a sudden choice,” says Sandra of her hushed acoustic debut, “but more me playing my guitar and having two small children so I could not make much noise.” Not unlike the Velvet Underground’s stolen equipment inspiring a pared-down sound on their self-titled 1969 record, “Show Talked Windows” finds SUMIE embracing limitations, carving out an intimate, dreamlike gem in the process.
