Marika Hackman has been on the radar for a year or so, yet only now seems set apart from the hushed folk-articulates coming out of London in recent months. This take on “Cinnamon” stems from her new Sugar Blind EP, the 4-track preview due in December ahead a forthcoming full-length debut. Par for the course, lyrical wit and nuanced pacing lies herein, but its greatest promise comes from Hackman’s strong, inherent knack for memorable melody. Understated and over too soon, this tune is worth a few spins above.
