Following up their 2012 LP, Generals, the Mynabirds — whose rousing set at our SXSW show was a personal highlight from the March event — have unveiled a new limited-edition 7″ via Saddle Creek Records. The release features Laura Burhenn & Co.’s buoyant, boot-stomping jam “Body of Work” on the A-side along with an unreleased cut culled from the Generals sessions on the flip side, “In the Mouths of Wolves.” Can’t wait to dive into that new one, but for now, the Mynabirds just shared this surreal official clip for the title track. Director Allie Avital Tsypin helmed the visuals, which bring the tune’s empowering message to life through symbolic, colorful imagery and choreographed group dance moves to boot. Here’s Burhenn describing its impetus:
‘Body of Work’ is a reminder of our absolute power to reimagine, redesign, and transform our lives at any given moment into something we enjoy to the utmost, something that’s wholly and fully our own. We are not victims of the past, but artists who can shape it into the most brilliant form imaginable; we are living things, bodies of work to edit.
