We were just talking about “Twisted Road”, one of Neil Young’s new songs unveiled out on tour with Crazy Horse, when, lo and behold, an update on their long-rumored follow-up to Americana is here: Psychedelic Pill is the title of the forthcoming set, according to Crazy Horse guitarist Poncho Sampedro to Rolling Stone. Taking its name from a song they’ve been testing out on the road, Poncho also provided some info about the tune’s origins:
That song began in the studio when Neil sat down at the piano and began playing chords. Ralph was on drums and he started this beat on the snare and wouldn’t stop for nearly an hour. We stood up and played it and realized it was a great song.
Also among the new set of songs is a lengthy cut called “Walk Like a Giant” that — upon hearing early live previews — is on par with a number of Young’s jam-heavy classics. (“Like a Hurricane” immediately comes to mind.) While we wait for a release date and further details, catch a preview with the fan-shot clip below:
