Fresh off a pair of late-night musical performances, Tom Waits’ latest film role is set to hit theaters this fall: Seven Psychopaths, a new dark comedy from In Bruges director Martin McDonagh stars Christopher Walken, Sam Rockwell, Colin Ferrell, Woody Harrelson, and Waits. Set for release this October, the trailer promises a solid effort for fans of the director’s other offbeat projects (his signature dry humor, in particular).
This week brings a preview, complete with a cameo from the great singer-songwriter, in which Waits appears as “The Man with the Bunny,” petting a white rabbit while hanging out on a sidewalk — an odd, unexplained moment, sure, but anyone whose seen In Bruges could tell you this seemingly innocuous exchange will inevitably lead to a plot twist down the road.
We’ve seen Waits play Satan, an animated bird, and a wide range of characters over the years, but who’s he playing this round? All we know right now is he’s named Zachariah (a man with a bunny). Either way, Waits and Walken sharing the screen is enough for me. Catch the preview above.
