Smashed Soundtrack Tracklist

Smashed Soundtrack TracklistThe charming trailer had me intrigued already, but the Smashed soundtrack just brought the new Aaron Paul and Mary Elizabeth Winstead-starring indie film into must-see territory. Not only does the movie feature an original score by Fruit Bats’ Eric D. Johnson collaborating with Vetiver’s Andy Cabic (two of our favorite songwriters in the non-film world around here), but Bill Callahan’s great Smog tune “Our Anniversary” shows up, as well, not to mention one of the best folk-rock jams of all time, the title track to Richard and Linda Thompson’s 1974 classic LP, I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight.

Arriving in theaters next month, Smashed depicts a co-dependent, alcoholic couple whose relationship gets rocky when Winstead’s character attempts to quit the bottle. In other words, just the kind of familiar, bittersweet story we might expect to couple well with Cass McCombs’ “Dreams-Come-True-Girl” or really any Callahan cut.

Suffice to say, we’re looking forward to director James Ponsoldt’s new feature. In the meantime, preview the tracklist along with the official video for McCombs’ tune below:
