PJ Harvey Preps Album for Early 2011, Gets Covered by Japandroids

“There will be extensive touring commitments with my dear friend Polly (PJ) after the release of her new album in February 2011,” revealed former Birthday Party, ex-Bad Seeds, and longtime (obvs) Nick Cave co-conspirator Mick Harvey via his MySpace blog a few weeks back. “We recorded her album back in May in Dorset and it’s a remarkable piece of work – quite unlike anything else out there. Would one expect anything else?”

No, not this one: I’ve been intrigued, as always, to hear PJ Harvey’s next move — especially in light of her unveiling the autoharp-backed new tune “Let England Shake” this spring — and can’t wait for the John Parish-assisted effort.

Meanwhile, Vancouver garage-rock duo Japandroids covered Harvey’s Uh Huh Her cut “Shame” on the flip side of their latest 7-inch single series installment, “Heavenward Grand Prix.” Hear their Harvey cover and get reacquainted with Polly Jean’s live preview of the aforementioned new song below:
