With the future of Sonic Youth still uncertain, Thurston Moore, Steve Shelley, and Lee Ranaldo have shifted their focus toward respective solo projects in coming months. Ranaldo, in particular, has an intriguing release on the way: a solo LP featuring guests Nels Cline, former SY bassist/production genius Jim O’Rourke, Alan Licht, John Medeski, and others. Between the Times & the Tides doesn’t arrive until next March, but he has begun testing out material on the road.
