Ryan Adams Writes Theme Song for The Awl, Becomes Columnist?

Things have been ominously quiet in the Ryan Adams universe of late (though I’m telling you that vinyl record label is totally happening), so I was excited to find out today that he’s stepping back into music and Internet oversharing… sort of.

Adams used to be frenemies with Gawker, so it’s no wonder he’s possibly siding with a couple ex-Gawker writers for this round of inspired rants and Garageband one-offs. The Awl’s Alex Balk announced the site’s newest contributor today:

We recently got in touch with a popular recording artist who happens to be an admirer of The Awl. This musician expressed an interest in contributing to the site, and we’re happy to announce that the result of our conversations is a regular column that should start up in the very near future.

Though Balk didn’t unveil the mystery musician’s name exactly, he did drop a theme song written by their new famous blogger, which anyone familiar with past Adams projects Sleazy Handshake, Werewolph, or DJ Reggie would recognize as sounding very similar to Mr. Mandy Moore himself.

P.S. Is that song title a dig at Wilco?
