The first single from Dan Bejar-led outfit Destroyer’s forthcoming album, Kaputt, arrived today as a free download via Merge. While the studio version of the tune, “Chinatown,” adheres closely to last fall’s live preview lyrically and melodically, Bejar adds a chilled out beat, breezy atmospherics, and some smooth-jazz saxophone to the arrangement here, taking the tune in a more laid back direction.
