Michael Jackson FBI File Available for $49.10

Over the years, John Lennon’s infamous FBI files have not only driven the music legend’s mystique as a martyr for pacifism, but also spawned numerous documentaries and debates over the Freedom of Information Act. Well, as we all know by now, another music icon died this summer and lo and behold, there’s a mysterious 591-page FBI file available for public consumption and dissection.

Michael Petrelis reports that after a long-shot Freedom of Information Act request on Michael Jackson was made to the FBI, he quickly got a letter back from Section Chief David Hardy (seen here or below):

Hardy confirmed that the FBI has 591 pages on Michael Jackson and simply stated that the duplication fee is 10 cents per page, while the “first 100 pages will be provided to you free of charge.” Wow, handing out FBI files is more like dealing crack than I had imagined.

I’m looking forward to hearing what the U.S. government’s fears about the King of Pop were, but can’t say I’m surprised they were wary of a so-called King possessing the power to walk on the moon.
