Depeche Mode posted the video to their latest single, “Hole to Feed,” on their website last week. Making a departure from the grittier, Anton Corbijn-directed videos for which Depeche Mode is known (“Personal Jesus,” “Walking in My Shoes,” “Useless,” etc.), director Eric Wareheim of Tim and Eric fame and MGMT’s “The Youth” presents us with a glossy, candy-colored surrealist ride. So I’m no prude, but I confess all the tongue-sucking and face-licking made me squirm like the time I paid my little brother to eat a handful of worms. Part of that could be the visible lack of hygiene on the part of some of the actors, or maybe I just have a complex. Anyway, I imagine that’s the kind of reaction Wareheim was going for.
