Well, it’s about time we get to hear a bit from the much-hyped upcoming Charlotte Gainsbourg abum, produced, co-written, and mixed by Beck. If you pay a visit to her official site thataway, Gainsbourg is offering (in exchange for an email address, of course) a free download of the title track to her upcoming record IRM.
In the song, Gainsbourg sings about her experience of having many MRI tests performed after she had a brain hemorrhage two years ago. In fact, Pitchfork quotes her saying: “I had to do so many [MRIs] and every time I was in that tube I was thinking it would make great music.”
I’ll let you be the judge as to whether the result is “great music” or not, but I think we can safely say that Beck makes an excellent post-operative jam partner. Check it out here.
