First Aid Kit Record 7″ Single with Jack White

As mentioned earlier this fall, Swedish folk-pop duo First Aid Kit‘s stunning debut album, The Big Black and The Blue, has been on repeat around here ever since the summer, not to mention their killer unplugged take on Fever Ray’s “When I Grow Up.” Now Klara and Johanna Söderberg are about to reach a much wider audience, as Jack White recently summoned the 17 and 20-year-old sisters to his Third Man Records studio — while they were passing through Nashville on tour — to record a new TMR Blue Series 45.

On January 18, Third Man will release First Aid Kit’s White-produced cover of Buffy Sainte-Marie’s “Universal Soldier” with their studio take on Karen Dalton’s version of blues standard “It Hurts Me Too” on the flip side. The single will be available to purchase on iTunes as well as the 7-inch vinyl online and in stores.
