Happy Birthday, David Bowie, Elvis Presley, and TFB!

BP Fallon and I still believe in Elvis Presley, but nevertheless it would’ve been fun to celebrate his 75th birthday tonight with a real live, likely Rick Rubin-collaborating King of Rock still walking strutting this Earth, no? There are so many songs to choose from to toast to that soul, but Lester Bangs’ apropos obit captured the loss all too well with words: “I can guarantee you one thing: we will never again agree on anything as we agreed on Elvis. So I won’t bother saying good-bye to his corpse. I will say good-bye to you.”

David Bowie, still standing, and standing tall at 63 years old, with a shock of blond hair and that demon smile. He’s a good egg, that Bowie, and living proof that drugs don’t always kill. I kid, you know we love him. Don’t be evil, people: Long live Ziggy Stardust!

Last, and certainly least in this context, TwentyFourBit and our founder/editor have turned a year older today. We love our daily readers, followers, and referrers so much for proving that these passions are worthwhile, not to mention for showing that honest music, words, and stories will still move in this (sometimes cynical) cyber medium.

So many things (sad and salient) have happened, and we take every bit to heart, but this isn’t about hits, hoaxes, heroes, or hugs. We’re the good kids and I’m happy to know that you’re the good kids too.
