Jack White Plans Third Man Live Venue, Spoken Word Series

Jack WhiteJack White began last year with “nothing on [his] plate at all,” assuring his manager, “don’t worry. It’s going to be OK.” A dozen moons later (plus a couple dozen records later), and it looks like he fared a lot better than “OK,” I say. After all, a vinyl/analog revolution isn’t all the Third Man has in store:

“Third Man is hoping to soon add a live venue, and all shows performed there will be recorded and eventually available for purchase.” That’s a bit from CMJ’s recent piece on the Dead Weather/White Stripes instigator. “[T]he whole thing will pay for itself,” White proclaims.

Did you check out the new B.P. Fallon video, featuring single frame cameos by My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields and Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie? (The song, “I Believe in Elvis Presley,” was the B-side to Fallon’s debut “three-sided” spoken word and interview 7” on White’s Third Man Records.) Well, we could probably add the phrase “that’s only the beginning” to all of White’s new projects, and this pseudo-spoken word genre is no different: he’s already recording an auctioneer (whilst auctioneering, sort of) for an upcoming 7” release, and plans to get more “regular people to talk about their jobs, telling their stories” for his future “Spoken Word-Instruction Record” series.
