The Cure’s Robert Smith Records John Martyn Cover, 3 More “Collaborations”

I had a feeling we’d get an update from the Cure’s Robert Smith shortly after news about his upcoming solo contribution to Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland soundtrack leaked, and sure enough the man has spoken…

“I HAVE RECORDED A COVER FOR A JOHN MARTYN TRIBUTE ALBUM, AS WELL AS A COUPLE OR THREE OTHER ‘COLLABORATIONS’,” Smith posted on the official Cure site, following confirmation that he had recorded the Disney cover “Very Good Advice” at “the request of a friend” (probably Burton). But that’s not all (cue the caps lock):

THERE IS AN ‘EXCLUSIVE’ ITUNES ALBUM STILL IN THE WORKS… AND PART TWO OF THE ‘DREAM’ SESSIONS IS SLOWLY TAKING SHAPE…

The Cure recently fulfilled their contract with Geffen Records, as well, so who knows what surprises Smith and company have in store now that they’re finally free from major label control.
