Not sure why we haven’t had a chance to mention how gorgeous the new J Mascis “acoustic” solo LP, Several Shade of Why, is just yet, but today’s the perfect day to do just that as the entire 10-track set is available to stream for free thanks to the Dinosaur Jr. frontman’s label, Sub Pop. In addition to a few welcome string arrangements, heartfelt, upfront vocals, an apropos absence of drums, and the occasional atmospheric overdub, the album features guest performances from Band of Horses’ Ben Bridwell (on “Is It done”), Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew, and Kurt Vile.
