Confession: I’m ten times more excited to hear the Walkmen’s new record than the Strokes’. Don’t get me wrong, Julian Casablancas is hiding something up his sleeve. It’s just that something (in my gut) tells me Hamilton Leithauser and his fellow early ’00s-hyped Walkmen/boys are on the verge of a breakthrough.
Between Leithauser’s Q&A with Pitchfork last month, various new song premieres live, and this set (via So Much Silence) from SXSW last week, their formidable 2008 effort, You & Me, feels like a mere harbinger of the brilliant upcoming album they have in store.
