The lineup to the upcoming Kate McGarrigle tribute concert at this summer’s Richard Thompson-curated Meltdown Festival in London was unveiled this morning, and though we predicted that her children, Rufus and Martha Wainwright, would be included, we’re pleasantly surprised to see Lisa Hannigan, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Beth Orton, and a couple other TwentyFourBit faves on the bill as well.
“Apparently [Thompson’s] first request was to do something for Kate, so I was very touched by that,” Rufus Wainwright told BBC 6Music today, adding: “It’s an amazing legacy that Martha and I have.”
Also set to celebrate the legacy of Kate McGarrigle, who passed away in January, for the June 12 event are Thompson’s former wife/songwriting partner, Linda, their daughter Kami, Teddy Thompson, Jenni Muldaur, Lily and Sylvain Lanken, and Krystle Warren.
