Last we heard from New York City’s Blonde Redhead, they had composed a score to a documentary about Dungeons and Dragons roleplayers called The Dungeon Masters. It was a fun, intriguing update on the band, but it only whetted our appetite for a follow-up to 2007’s full-length, 23. Good news: the band have not only started recording new material, but they’ve already released a preview track from their new batch of songs on Record Store Day.
Head on over to the Fader to stream and/or download Blonde Redhead’s “Not Getting There.” The track was apparently hiding in plain sight on 4AD’s Fragments 12”, which featured teaser tracks from the label’s upcoming releases.
Meanwhile, the latest post on their Facebook page features a short clip from the studio and the caption, “Making new music in High Falls, NY.” An earlier status update reads, “Working thru the winter. Really the perfect time for it.” Yumm.
