Patrick Wolf Covers Kate Bush, Finishes New Album

Patrick Wolf Kate BushIt’s been all quiet on the Patrick Wolf front of late, but for very good reason: the man behind The Bachelor (and three much more exciting records prior) was not only covering Kate Bush for a new 180-song benefit compilation, but keeping busy with the completion of his next album, The Conqueror, as well.

PEACE, a new digital compilation of almost two hundred new and/or unreleased tunes produced by Buffetlibre and Amnesty International, includes contributions by Mogwai, The Antlers, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, Micah P Hinson, A Place To Bury Strangers, Dan Deacon, Thao with the Get Down Stay Down, Jeffrey Lewis, Dan Deacon, Patrick Wolf, and a host of others. All proceeds from the sale of PEACE will benefit AI’s “investigation and action campaigns aimed at preventing cases of Human Rights abuses around the world.” Brilliant project, people.

Wolf, who has covered Kate Bush classics “Running Up That Hill” and “Hounds of Love” previously, recorded a studio version of 1980 Never For Ever single “Army Dreamers.” Give it a listen below and you’ll see why the song is a perfect fit for a charitable release for peace.

Oh yeah, about that new Wolf LP: “I am a few hours away from completing the recording of The Conqueror,” he wrote on his blog over a month’s worth of hours ago. “Me and this album have been on such a long journey together and I am so very proud and excited about its completion and release.” The album, which was originally conceived as a companion to The Bachelor, will be released by Wolf’s new label, Hideout, a subsidiary of Mercury Records.
