Web Sheriff Forces Apology From Grizzly Bear to Animal Collective For Leak

Ever heard of the Web Sheriff? Well basically, it’s a private service that some labels hire to “police” album leaks on the internet. They google for leaked tracks all day and then send a letter to the criminals, informing them “this is no laughing matter.” Internet flashlight cops.

Brooklyn-based indie band Grizzly Bear posted the song “Brother Sport” from their friends Animal Collective’s forthcoming album on their blog and were met at high noon by said Web Sheriff. They were left with two choices: Remove the track and post an apology or lawyer up.
