In which John Darnielle, Jon Wurster, and friends bring out their inner punk angst for an inspired take on Jawbreaker’s 1994 cut “Boxcar” for this week’s A.V. Undercover. As for his connection to the tune’s retaliatory lyrics, Darnielle says:
“You always feel a connection to that sort of thing because the whole thing is: everybody feels beleaguered at some point. I mean, that’s the universal truth of punk… At the same time, I don’t think I feel as beleaguered as the authors of the lyrics do.”
