As reported earlier this spring, beloved indie-emo outfit Carissa’s Wierd, which once included Band of Horses members (past and present) Ben Bridwell, Jenn Ghetto, and Mat Brooke, have teamed up with Hardly Art for digital/vinyl reissues from their out-of-print discography, as well as a 16-track retrospective compilation, dubbed They’ll Only Miss You When You Leave: Songs 1996 – 2003.
One reunion show (sans Bridwell) is planned for next month, but in the meantime, the second track off the aforementioned compilation, “Die,” is available for free via the band’s new label. I’ve always been drawn to art that creates nostalgia out of thin air and this song does just that beautifully, not to mention I can’t think of a better introduction to Carissa’s Wierd: Download “Die” here (stream below).
