The Gaslight Anthem’s Brian Fallon formed a new band with Ian Perkins late last year, revealing in January that “it’s the darker side of soul music, it’s slow, it slithers, and it’s raw.” Calling themselves the Horrible Crowes, the duo added that they were planning to juxtapose bright piano parts and melodies against heavier topical material for an “eerily soothing” sound. This week, Fallon and Perkins uploaded a promising 99-second preview of the result: “Black Betty & The Moon,” streaming above off their debut LP, Elsie, due out in September.
