Laura Marling Teams with Johnny Flynn, Dharohar Project

I’m patiently awaiting Laura Marling’s follow-up to I Speak Because I Can (reportedly due out within the year), but in the meantime, the English neo-folk singer has a few summer collaborations of note. The first is rather small in comparison, but hey, you can enjoy it right now: Last week, Johnny Flynn released his new album Been Listening, an 11-track LP that features a lovely duet with the writer of one of my favorite songs of the year. Hear “The Water” below (4 other songs are streaming here).

One more recently-unveiled collab might lead to yet another upcoming release from Marling and friends. According to her MySpace page, Marling, longtime co-conspirators Mumford & Sons, and the Dharohar Project, a traditional Rajasthani folk collective, are set to perform a pair of concerts in the UK next month. But here’s the kicker: All three acts recorded songs together during a string of Indian tour dates last year and a new release, as well as video footage, from their project is said to be on the way. In addition to the Flynn duet, a clip of Marling performing with the Dharohar Project last year is below:
