Between hearing recent previews of Mark Kozelek’s new album under the Sun Kil Moon moniker, Admiral Fell Promises, and José González’s Red Dead Redemption track “Far Away,” I’m fairly certain that solo nylon acoustic guitars backing reverb-drenched vocals will never fail to conjure up a beautiful sad bastard tune. That’s good news for the sad-songs-make-me-happy crowd as we can now enjoy three new melancholic Sun Kil Moon cuts with seven more set to drop in just two weeks.
The title track is still my favorite thus far, but I must say that Admiral Fell Promises is pretty much flawless as of today’s addition of “You Are My Sun” to the Caldo Verde Records streaming player. Give all three songs a spin here.
