Given that Karen O’s Yeah Yeah Yeahs bandmate Nick Zinner contributed to The Creators Project last summer, news of a mysterious forthcoming project from the leader of the art-rock trio for the worldwide tech/art initiative doesn’t come completely out of the blue. It does sound rather intriguing, though, as today’s announcement for an event to be held in Brooklyn’s St. Ann’s Warehouse this October notes:
Original Studio works will include the world premiere of Karen O‘s psycho-opera, an assault on the tragic joys of youth, directed by Adam Rapp [playwright/director of ‘Winter Passing’]. The premiere will take place at the critically acclaimed, St. Ann’s Warehouse.
Further details are scarce, but if the quality of O’s other solo forays this year are any indication, this fall’s psycho-opera assault should be an incredible piece that will hopefully find an official audio/video release at some point.
