Now that we’ve all heard Sufjan’s new one, I think the time’s come for an uplifting summer jam before the weekend sets in. But from whom? Enter Cee-Lo Green, Goodie Mob/Gnarls Barkley member, Nick Cave-sampling singer, and self-proclaimed Lady Killer. Though the title made me think we’d get something along the lines of Kanye’s “Power,” “Fuck You” is more playful than angry, more fiendishly melodramatic than self-serious. It’s an excellent jam of the retro-soul Sharon Jones/Amy Winehouse variety or perfect to-be-hit for fans of catchy pop music in general. A “full video” is due next week, but this animated typographic version with lyrics will certainly suffice. Check it out above (via P4k/Castoffcrown).
