Jazz legend Herbie Hancock’s forthcoming film and album, The Imagine Project, features collaborations with over a dozen artists performing from their respective home countries, which span many regions of the planet.

As AllAboutJazz.com reports, the likes of Jeff Beck, Oumou Sangare, Lionel Louke, Lisa Hannigan, Dave Matthews, Derek Trucks, Pink, Seal, Susan Tedeschi, Juanes, Wayne Shorter, Chaka Khan, Anoushka Shankar (daughter of Ravi Shankar), and the Chieftains took part in recording sessions in Paris, London, Miami, Ireland, Mumbai, and Sao Paulo.

Hancock hopes to explore the concept of music as a universal language on the project by “uniting a myriad of cultures through song and positive creative expression.” The Imagine Project album and film, which is produced by Oscar-winning writer/director Alex Gibney (Taxi To The Dark Side), is due out June 22.

Hope For HaitiThere were many interesting musical moments during tonight’s “Hope for Haiti Now” telethon—which would be pretty hard to miss if you flipped through the channels during primetime television in the past couple hours. Though the program has only just begun here on the West Coast, we watched the stream on YouTube and want to encourage all those in our timezone to tune in asap to watch some great artists for a great a cause.

Sure, the most anticipated performance of the night was perhaps U2, Jay-Z, and Rihanna’s unveiling of their new song “Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour),” but we were more into Bruce Springsteen’s take on “We Shall Overcome,” as well as Neil Young (who just played “Long May You Run” for Conan O’Brien’s final Tonight Show) and Dave Matthews’ cover of Hank Williams classic “Alone and Forsaken.”

iTunes will offer all of tonight’s performances on Monday for the Hope for Haiti Now charity compilation at itunes.com/haiti, but until then, you can watch the Young/Matthews performance here or below, The Boss below or thataway, or check out the new Jay-Z/U2/Rihanna song here.

Most importantly, though, please donate here for the Haiti relief effort if you are able.

Willie Nelson may be 76 years old, but he’s on Twitter, he just tricked out his corn-fueled tour bus with a state of the art broadband device (insert Xzibit joke here), and now he and the folks behind Farm Aid are offering up amazing high quality videos of full sets from this year’s benefit concert in St. Louis, MO.

**Update** It appears that Farm Aid has removed the free stream. You now must become a member to watch the concerts.

Click here to watch full sets by Dave Matthews w/ Tim Reynolds, Willie of course, Neil Young, Wilco, Jason Mraz, John Mellencamp, and more. There are also interviews with Phosphorescent (their awesome Willie Nelson covers record really paid off!), Will Dailey, Dave Matthews, and a bunch of farmers.

I haven’t had a chance to watch all the videos yet, but my personal favorite so far is Phosophorescent’s Matt Houck singing “A Picture of Our Torn Up Praise” to an almost empty auditorium (not many people showed up for the early sets, I guess). I can’t link directly to it, but go to the main page here and if you look closely, you’ll see Willie watching Houck from the side of the stage. Talk about nerve-wracking.
