The King Is Dead single “This Is Why We Fight” now has an appropriately symbolic visual narrative via the Decemberists’ Aaron Stewart-Ahn-directed new music video, in which surviving a vaguely post-apocalyptic dystopia is only half the battle for the story’s youthful inhabitants.
If you’re familiar with any of the illustrations on Decemberists albums, posters, t-shirts, or Colin Meloy solo records, then you’ve already gotten a taste of Carson Ellis’ work.
Ellis is Meloy’s wife, Decemberists collaborator, and soon-to-be co-author of a children’s book, which the pair have been working on for quite a few years.
