Danny Elfman to Score Fourth Terminator, Might Not Use Original Theme

Brad Fiedel’s iconic Terminator theme may not appear in the fourth sequel of the franchise set for May 2009. Danny Elfman, the famed Tim Burton film and Simpsons theme composer, has signed on to score Terminator: Salvation and he recently spoke to MTV about the original theme music:

“I think if it comes up and it seems appropriate, we will [use it]. And if it doesn’t, we [won’t]. I never really know what to expect when I begin other than just kind of get into it and have fun. Especially a movie like T4 – just have fun. So that’s what I intend to do.”

As Total Film reports, I’d “hardly call a post-apocalyptic setting where humanity is on the brink of extinction ‘fun’.” The movie’s soundtrack will also feature a song by rapper Common, who has a role in the film alongside John Connor, played by Christian Bale.
