The Daily Show at Center of Jam Band Religious Freedom Lawsuit

Attorneys for the Church of Universal Love and Music are trying to block jurors from viewing a 2003 Daily Show report in which Ed Helms provokes the organization’s founder to come just shy of admitting his religious organization was created to get jam band concert permits in Bullskin, Pennsylvania.

The church’s founder, William Pritts, is suing Fayette County for $1 million, claiming a ban on his concerts amounts to religious discrimination. Fayette County’s attorney, Marie Milie Jones, plans to use the Daily Show video to prove Pritts’ negligence, by highlighting such quotes from Pritts as, “Bogarting a joint? Uh, it’s kinda rude not to share,” and “God never said you can’t party on.”
