Blink-182 Confirm Reunion Via Email, Website, Grammys

If you haven’t heard the news that Blink-182 has reunited, you surely will soon. The band announced they are recording a new album and are planning a world tour live on the Grammy Awards, through an emailed press release, and with a new website.

“We used to play music together, and we decided we’re going to play music together again,” Travis Barker said at last night’s Grammy Awards, with Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge on either side of their bandmate, a recent plane crash survivor. Just in case Barker wasn’t specific enough, Hoppus yelled, “Blink-182 is back!”

In an email sent to reporters and on a message on their newly redesigned website the band put it in writing. Here’s the full release:

Hi. We’re blink-182.

This past week there’ve been a lot of questions about the current status of the band, and we wanted you to hear it straight from us. To put it simply, We’re back. We mean, really back. Picking up where we left off and then some. In the studio writing and recording a new album. Preparing to tour the world yet again. Friendships reformed. 17 years deep in our legacy.

Summer 2009.

Thanks and get ready…

That’s all we know for now, but I’m sure we’ll be hearing more soon via Twitter or Facebook or one of those kind of deals.
