At a Seattle concert a few nights ago, legendary singer Etta James ranted about Beyonce, who portrayed James in the recent biopic called Cadillac Records. In what Seattle PI referred to as a “feisty” introduction to “At Last,” James went after Beyonce’s performance of the song at President Obama’s Inaugural Ball. She even mocked the president himself:
“You guys know your president, right?” James said. “You know the one with the big ears? Wait a minute, he ain’t my president, he might be yours, he ain’t my president. You know that woman he had singing for him, singing my song — she’s gonna get her ass whipped. The great Beyoncé … But I can’t stand Beyoncé. She has no business up there, singing up there on a big ol’ president day … singing my song that I’ve been singing forever.”
There has been no comment from Beyonce or her reps on her reaction to a 71-year-old music legend saying “she’s gonna get her ass whipped.” TheYBC.com has leaked audio of James’ rant, which you can download in mp3 format here.
