Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew was so inspired by Feist’s song “The Water,” from her 2007 album The Reminder, that he adapted it into a short film starring Cillian Murphy, David Fox, and Feist. The singer reportedly plays a love interest to one of the other characters.
“Kevi told me one day that he wanted to make a film for ‘The Water,’ and he knew he needed Cillian’s blue eyes and David’s brown ones and that it was going to be a fairytale,” Feist told Paste Magazine. “It felt like a cross between a book I read as a kid called The Snow Queen, a silent film and a long walk in the woods with snow crunching under your feet.”
The film was shot last January in Toronto and is currently being submitted for film festival consideration.
